Cheap hotels, airfare or train fares and sights in singapore-malaysia and thailand?

My friend andI are planning to go on a trip to singapore-malaysia and thailand, but were on a budget… so can u pls pls give me some info on cheap hotels or hostels in those 3 countries and where can we eat local food that is cheap BUT clean and filling…sights we can check out..and also we want to go to these 3 places via train, is it possible? any info

I cannot give any info on Malaysia and Thailand. But for Singapore, cheap hotels would be like Hotel 81 (though sometimes it can be quite sleazy depending on which branch you stay in) or Fragrance hotel.

For food, do travel to the local neighbourhood places and try the food there in the hawker centres or food courts. In general, the hygiene standards in singapore is quite high, so no worries about food poisoning. Do not go to Newton Food Centre, the food there is local and great but very expensive.

As for flights, you can try budget airlines like Tiger Airways, AirAsia or Jetstar Asia. They travel to a lot of destinations in South East Asia. Do check their website to find out more.

Sometimes not being too prepared is good, you can be a bit more adventurous.

Is it better to book hotels online before arriving in Thailand?

Or would you get better deals whilst over there? I am going with a friend, i would be happy to book one for the first couple of nights and then see how it goes but he wants to book the full 2 weeks worth of accomodation before we go. We are planning to fly to Phuket and stay around Phi Phi and Krabi.
