Like I said earlier, most Western guys think the “Asian” label refers to women with distinct Oriental features—such as Japanese, Korean and Chinese girls. But the term actually includes over include 40 distinct nationalities and ethnic groups, and beyond that, there’s been a lot of “cross-pollination” between cultures over the generations. So really, there are endless categories and sub-categories!

This is especially true in the Philippines, which has, during various periods, been colonized by the Spanish, the Japanese, and Americans. While most Filipina girls tend to be short in stature and have dark skin, you’ll also find tall women with light skin. Some Filipinas have Japanese, Chinese or Korean ancestors and have a more “oriental” look. You’ll even come across Filipinas who have the kinky hair and voluptuous curves of African-American women—because they have African-American fathers (often, these were G.I.s who passed through).

So, three quick tips on “defining Asian women”:

Tip #1: When meeting Asian women in your own country, don’t try to guess their race. Even though I’ve done lots of traveling throughout Asia and dated girls from most of the countries, when I’m back home in America I can still have a hard time telling the difference between Thais and Filipinas, Korean and Chinese girls, etc. You might guess wrong, and this can offend some women.

It also sends the message that you are interested in her because she is Asian. You don’t ever want a girl to think this. You want her to feel that you’re interested in her for who she is—and Asian women living in the West are totally creeped out by guys who seem to have “yellow fever” and are obsessed with hot Asian women.

Tip #2: Although the correct term for individuals from Japan or China is “Oriental,” don’t use this word when conversing with an Asian woman. It has racist undertones, sort of like referring to a black guy as a “Negro.” It’s an outdated term that sounds rude.

Tip #3: Don’t try to “bond” with an Asian girl by mentioning that you’ve dated women from her country before. As a rule, never talk about any of your Asian ex-girlfriends. Again, she might think you’re one of those “yellow fever” guys.
