Dean Answers Your Questions About Yahoo Thailand

Thomas asks…

What happenes if you ask a question on Thailand yahoo answers?

At the bottom of the paige with all the flags and countries, when I clicked Thailand everything was in Thailand language, what would happen if I asked a question there in English?

Dean answers:

You might get a violation notice for using the wrong language if reported by one or more users. Reason: no matter where in the world you are registered, you can participate on all foreign YA pages as long as you use the country specific language. But since there is no automatic translation, that foreign language should be at least something you learned at school, otherwise you might get in trouble. I for one am a German user, my English is mostly self taught…:-)

Mark asks…

How can I find out if a yahoo company in Thailand is real?

I received an email from Thailand saying they were a yahoo international lottery and I was a winner. They had a picture of a building that said YAHOO on it. Is this for real?

Dean answers:

This is a SCAM. The below links confirm various email scams hitting the internet. There is also an online form for the reporting of such – (with links for your own country.)

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace.
