Traverlling first time to thailand (Bangkok & Phuket). Need a companion to explore these places How can i?
I am planning a vacation in Bangkok & Phuket for first time in Jan-07 How can i get a female company to stay with me and guide me to explore these two cities for 10 days. any other suggestion to plan my trip better.
Dean answers:
If you are looking for western female company, you can stay around Kao San road in BKK, and meet many. If you have skills you can find a girl. If it is a Thai girl you want…A good girl can’t just take off from work or school and go with you. A farang stranger. She will lose face and respect as is their way.
Now a lower class girl you meet around the bars will jump on you. Most will be at your wallet so don’t sleep. The rest are simple and want a better life and are sweet but basically you will be taking advantage of her. If she goes off with a strange foreigner she loses all respect from her community which is why the working girls WILL go with you. They have nothing to lose.
That said the majority of the women are sweet and honest but in any place in the world if you are looking to pimp out someone..you may get pimped out yourself big boy.

How do you retirees spend your time in Thailand ?- 10 Points?
Its one thing to come as a tourist but another to live here long term . Do you run your own business or could it run you down ! Do you get land and cultivate the crop . Just how do you pass the time ??
Dean answers:
KGP – what are you saying here? Cultivate the crops? Thats like breaking rocks on the chain gang… This is actually a question for anyone everywhere ready to retire – its individual… You can probably do whatever you might do in the USA – - if you can figure out what that is – - business here will ruin your life –
You can sit with Tony Tuna and solve the problems of the world, maybe read a little, watch some tv – - listen to Sir Robert of Carleton bemoan the drop in the pound – - get a massage – whatever you want – - perfect your Thai – then if you still have time you can cultivate. – or just take a nap for the hell of it – -
William asks…
what do I have to know when travelling for the first time in thailand?
This will be my first time to visit thailand with my family, what are the things that I need to know before going there? Like money, security, places, food, guides etc……
Dean answers:
I’m Thai, If you want to experience an really good thai food, you have to try the food on street stall. It is not as hygience but it tastes good than most of the restaurant. A food stall roasting octopus, fish ball and etc, asks he or she for sweet sauce so you can eat it. A really tasty food is always in the street not shopping mall and it’s cheaper. Many foreigner avoid it because of hygiene. They miss the chance to taste a really delicious food.

How can I have a good time in Thailand without regretting it later?
And by that, I mean I prefer not to get with ladyboys aka katoeys. Sorry, it’s just not my thing.
Dean answers:
Then don’t do it!

is it legal to teach English part time in Thailand, without a work visa?
An employer in Bangkok said to me that i don’t need a work visa if I am only working part-time…are they lying to me?
Is it true that only a full time job requires a work visa?
Yes, I thought so.
Very well then… work visa to be legal.
Dean answers:
Any work you do in Thailand requires foreigners to have a work permit. There are very strict rules and regulations in place too. If you are caught by authorities you may be heavily finned and/or jailed, or deported from Thailand.
Some less reputable schools may try and cut corners so that they can avoid going through immigration and applying and paying for work permits and visas to save money and hassle.
Anyhow, working without a work permit can be very risky in Thailand.
